Load-chart & stability considerations
Crawler crane stability depends on the specific counterweight configuration fitted for that lift being correctly matched to the load chart in use — using a load chart for the wrong counterweight configuration is a serious and specific risk with this machine type that doesn't apply the same way to wheeled cranes. Ground-bearing pressure under the tracks, while generally lower than an outrigger pad, still needs assessing on soft or made-up ground, particularly on wind farm compounds built up ahead of turbine delivery.
