Load-chart & stability considerations

Vehicle-mounted MEWPs depend entirely on correct outrigger deployment on the actual ground the vehicle has stopped on — verge, farm track or road shoulder — which is far more variable than a purpose-built yard. We train operators to properly assess verge and shoulder ground-bearing before deploying, since a machine that's perfectly stable on tarmac can settle unevenly on a wet grass verge once loaded at height.

FAQ — Vehicle-Mounted MEWP

Do I need a special driving licence as well as MEWP training?

Yes — driving the vehicle to location requires the appropriate category on your driving licence, which is separate from and in addition to MEWP platform operator training.

How is this different from a self-propelled boom lift?

A vehicle-mounted unit travels on the public road on its carrying vehicle rather than driving itself around a site, and outrigger set-up on variable roadside ground is a bigger part of the competence than platform-driving skill.

Can training run at our depot?

Yes, we deliver at your depot on your own vehicle-mounted unit, and can also include a representative roadside set-up if that reflects your typical working locations.
